Why Ridhisha Foundation

A non-profit by law, not just by intention.

Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 puts binding conditions on how a company like ours may use its money. These are ours:

  • No private gain — profits, income and property are applied solely to promoting our objects. No dividend or bonus is paid to members.
  • Audited every year — true accounts are kept of all money received and spent, and examined at least once a year by a qualified auditor.
  • Open books — the accounts are open to inspection by the members of the company.
  • Nationwide mandate — our objects extend to the whole of India, and each activity is taken up with the approval of the concerned authority.

The promises written into our registration

These clauses are part of the Memorandum of Association filed with the Registrar of Companies. They are not marketing lines — they are binding.

Income stays with the cause

The profits, if any, and all other income and property of the company shall be applied solely for the promotion of the objects set forth in the Memorandum. No portion may be paid or transferred, directly or indirectly, as dividend or bonus to any member.

The whole of India

The objects of the company extend to the whole of India. Schools, dispensaries, camps and awareness programmes may be taken up in any state, after the approval of the authority concerned.

Nothing to members, even at the end

On winding up or dissolution, any property left after settling all debts and liabilities shall not be distributed among members. It goes to another company with similar objects, or to the Rehabilitation and Insolvency Fund formed under Section 269 of the Act.

Stand with a cause that is bound by law to spend every rupee on it.
